Beauvais gherkins are characterized by a sweet taste combined with a light and sour vinegar taste. These flavors help to give Beauvais’ cucumbers the right traditional taste of pickled cucumbers. The combination of the sweet and sour helps to give a freshness to many fresh dishes. Try the pickled cucumbers for fish and cold cuts, among other things.
The cucumber, also called the pickle, is a 5-10 cm long unripe cucumber. It originates from Asia and is only grown in a few places in Denmark. Beauvais’ cucumbers are harvested primarily in Germany from mid-June to mid-September. The fresh and solid ones are then delivered to the factory, after which they are pickled and poured into glasses.
