Great salt herring

When I lived in New York and New Jersey I could buy these locally. I can't find anything like this where I live now. Herring salad is a Christmas tradition with me and these fillets are just right.

I make pickled herring for our traditional Swedish Christmas Eve dinner. I grew up eating this with my Swedish Mormor and Morfar. We realized that the stuff in stores in S.Cal. were just not right. So I took it upon my self to make it fresh every year. The fish is fresh and the flavor and texture can't be beat. I'll be ordering from Nordic House every year without fail!

Absolutely perfect salt herring

In my opinion, this is the best product you can buy from Nordic House. The quality of these herring fillets is outstanding! The fillets are firm and clean, perfectly salted. I have ordered them many years in a row now and the herring always arrive in perfect condition, well packed. With this kind of product/ingredient, it is very easy to make all sorts of pickled herring with impressive results. I use my parents' old Swedish recipes, and serve it at Christmas to all my Swedish friends and family members; rave reviews. I explain that it is the fine salt herring that I buy from Nordic House!

I would highly recommend salted herring from Nordic House. Traditionally I have marinated my own herring for Christmas and the tradition would have had to stop due local unavailability. Nordic House is a courteous and timely supplier. Hurrah for the internet and Nordic House.
